World Domination Tour touches down at Movement, Detroit's Electronic Music Festival
Line-up includes A Guy Called Gerald along Detroit Techno Legends
May 1, 2007//Berlin, Germany - Bringing bangin' techno and musical messages of unity to a global audience, Mixworks Promotions kicked off the World Domination Tour last month as part of a three-month series featuring Underground Resistance mainstays James Pennington (aka Suburban Knight) and Buzz Goree (aka Clandestine), as well as Alan Oldham of Pure Sonic and Detroit's own SCAN-7.
A special stop on the tour is scheduled for Friday, May 25 in Detroit during Movement, Detroit's Electronic Music Festival. The tour performers will be joined in their hometown by the legendary dance-music producer and DJ A Guy Called Gerald, whose contributions date back to performing with British house group 808 State and his singular hit Voodoo Ray, which firmly put British house music on the map leading into the 90s.
After decades of producing diverse, cross-genre hits, Gerald released a Detroit-style album in 2006 called Proto Acid - The Berlin Sessions, in which he fulfills his lifetime dream of "taking the studio into the club" with 24 infectious, raw club tracks mixed into one, long fluid move. Mixes of Voltar and Sweet You will be released on May 25 as well on the Proto Acid 2 EP.
Detroit DJs Mike Clark, Brian Gillespie, Aaron Carl and B Calloway will also be featured at this tour date. The event takes place at The Works at 1846 Michigan Ave. in downtown Detroit. Details will be updated regularly at www.313mixworks.com and tickets are available for purchase at www.groovetickets.com or in Detroit at Record Time Music.
